The Monaco Academy
The Monaco Academy is key in the development of our ground-breaking access-to-justice work. To achieve our goals of widening access to justice to people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it, we are combining legal tech with our talented trainee lawyers under supervision from our experienced senior employment lawyers.
Access to the Academy will only be offered to selected employment cases, on a ‘no win no fee’ basis wherever possible. We may have to proceed by means of upfront fees (at our discretion), but in that case, the fees will be considerably less than those charged by senior lawyers. So the Academy presents a more available option, especially in these difficult times.
Your point of contact will be our trainee lawyers but all legal letters sent out by us will have been approved by our senior lawyers, so you get the benefit of their experience without the cost.
Not only that, but our award-winning in-house legal tech, including our document creator ‘Grapple’ and other bespoke employment law technologies, are used by our Academy trainees to contribute to their own development into qualified lawyers.

A word from Alex Monaco:
“Monaco Academy is transforming the employment law landscape – every day, thousands of people across the UK have urgent employment law issues but not everyone can afford help.
Academy trainee lawyers use our cutting-edge natural language generation methods, with algorithms trained on our wealth of real case data, to help run cases against employers, with the aim of reaching a negotiated outcome of the employment dispute.
Before Monaco Academy, employees who could not afford a lawyer would have to sort everything out themselves, including figuring out what to do and writing the various letters, etc. Most people don’t feel able to do that, and many are unable to afford representation from a traditional lawyer due to the high costs typically involved, averaging around £300-£500+VAT per hour.”
Monaco Solicitors are continuing to develop innovative tech-based tools and techniques and to incorporate them into all aspects of our business and client services. In this way, we aim to provide more effective and efficient services designed to benefit individuals who need help with accessing justice in employment. We are also encouraging the adoption of such new tools and techniques into law degree education, further contributing towards the reform of UK legal services.
