Subject access request made by employee: Example 1

A subject access request is a right under the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (implemented by the Data Protection Act 2018) to request all information that your employer holds relating to you.

Importantly, it includes the right to request information contained on your employer’s computer system – so if your manager has been emailing people about you, you are entitled to see this information.

A subject access request may be useful to obtain valuable evidence in reference to your dispute and/or strengthen your negotiation with your employer.
